Families can experience movie magic Saturday, June 7, at the South Carolina State Museum during its “Hurray for Hollywood Family Fun Day” breakfast, the kick-off to a full day of Hollywood and movie-themed activities.
This “breakfast with the stars” from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. will feature characters from favorite movies such as “Scooby Doo,” “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” “Star Trek” and more. Plus, guests dressed as their favorite movie characters will compete for prizes in the Red Carpet Costume Contest. After breakfast diners may take in the Museum's blockbuster exhibit Hollywood Comes to South Carolina: A Century of Filmmaking in the Palmetto State.
The star-studded breakfast menu includes "Film Fanatic French Toast," “Silver Screen Syrup,” "Soundstage Sausage Links," "15 Minutes of Fame Fruit," "Movie Mogul Milk," "Oscar Winning OJ," and, for the adults, "Red Carpet Coffee."
Cost for the public is $15 per adult and $12 per child (members of the State Museum $10 per adult and $7 per child).
“In addition, other fun activities will take place throughout the day,” said Director of Education and Programs Meika Samuel. “They include Hollywood makeovers from local makeup artists, where guests can become glamorous or monsters. Plus, there’s face painting by members of the Columbia Children’s Theatre, a movie-themed scavenger hunt, making an animated flip book, and more.”
At 3 p.m., a classic Hollywood family movie will be shown.
June 7 is also Hollywood Member Day. Museum members will be able to see the Hollywood Comes to South Carolina exhibit free of charge, in addition to their free regular museum admission.
