Press Release:

In time for holiday enjoyment, the South Carolina State Museum will offer special weekend walk-in tours.  “We urge our guests to join these fun tours of Museum Highlights,” said Meika Samuel, director of education and programs. “They’ll be glad they did! There’s always something new to discover at the State Museum.”

The tours are in response to requests from visitors who have said “there is so much to see and do at the Museum, that they would love to have someone show them through personally,” said Samuel.

Docents (museum volunteer teachers) will lead free 60 minute tours highlighting current museum exhibits and offer behind-the-scenes glimpses of how these exhibits came to be. Tours depart from the lobby on Saturday, December 1, 8 and 15 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with special tours added Dec. 26 – 28 at the same times. Weekend programming is free with general admission or membership.

For more information on these special tours, call (803) 898-4989 or (803) 898-4912.
