It’s creepy and it’s kooky… mysterious and spooky… it’s altogether ooky—
it’s…"Tricks and Treats at the State Museum, Part II!" This annual Halloween event at
the South Carolina State Museum continues on Saturday, Oct. 27, offering families
exceptional holiday fun in a safe setting.
Beginning at 10 a.m., Carolina Cats will showcase beautiful black cats and more,
some ready for adoption. Magician Nick Propst, with the help of Trixie the Catalina
Macaw, will entertain youngsters with pocket magic and incredible balloon art. Mascot
“Skat the Cat” will lead a merry chase throughout the day.
"New this year, a Haunted Halloween Party begins at 11 a.m.," said Director of
Programs Meika Samuel. "Children will be invited to participate in many different
activities throughout the museum such as Goblin Games, Creepy Crafts, Frightful Face
Painting and Spooky Storytelling by members of the Three Rivers Storytelling Guild."
Young guests also will take part in a scavenger hunt that will earn them prizes and
scary treasures as they “creepy-crawl” through the museum galleries, gathering the items
needed from the museum’s "Ghostly Guardians."
As a special treat later in the day, guests can celebrate the museum’s 19th birthday
with punch and birthday cake.
"It’s no trick—those who come in costume for 'Tricks and Treats' will receive $1
off regular museum admission," added Samuel.
“Tricks and Treats” is included with museum admission or membership.
