The third annual Read and Romp family literacy event will be held at the South Carolina State Museum on Sunday, Oct. 7 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Organized by Reach Out and Read-S.C., the event will engage children (and their accompanying adults), in fun, learning-based activities themed around favorite children’s books.
All participating children will leave with a bagful of goodies that they either created or earned by visiting hands-on activity stations.
"Read and Romp is a wonderful way to get children interested early in books and the joy of reading," said State Museum Director of Education Meika Samuel. "We recognize the chance to host this event as a duty to help promote education in our state, and we're proud and thrilled to be participating for the third year."
Admission for Read and Romp is $10 per child. Accompanying adults and children under two are free. "Be sure to get your tickets early because this event fills up fast,” said Samuel. "And don't forget to bring your favorite stuffed animal for a visit with the 'doctor!'"
All activities are best suited for families with children age 10 and under.
