Press Release:

In appreciation of the men and women who work daily for the benefit of South Carolina and its citizens, the South Carolina State Museum will offer a one-day discount on all merchandise at the museum store, the Cotton Mill Exchange.

To observe State Employee Recognition Day as proclaimed by Gov. Mark Sanford, all South Carolina state employees will receive 10 percent off of their entire store purchases on Wednesday, May 9 with the presentation of their state identification. State employees who are also members of the museum will receive an additional 10 percent discount when they present their membership cards at the register, for a total of 20 percent off their purchases.

Forget the malls and chain stores.  Just in time for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduation, the Cotton Mill Exchange is packed with unique and unusual gift ideas. Southern-oriented, South Carolina-oriented, or completely unique to the museum, the store sells an amazing variety of merchandise including jewelry, clothing, home decorations, greeting cards, toys and books.
Also not to be forgotten is the impressive variety of South Carolina food products. From peach butter to pecans, cheese straws, grits and barbecue sauce, many delicious gift ideas found only at the Cotton Mill Exchange will delight anyone's family and friends.

Speaking of food, the discount also extends to the many delicious varieties of fudge and other yummy items to be found at the Crescent Café, the museum's new eatery.
In addition, the store ships items daily via UPS, so out-of-town gift recipients also can benefit from this special offer.

For more information on the Cotton Mill Exchange or the Crescent Cafe, contact Store Manager Scottie Ash at (803) 898-4968 or visit the online store at www.southcarolinastatemuseum.org.
