Press Release:

South Carolina’s environment, past and present, is explored in new weekend programs at the South Carolina State Museum beginning Saturday, Nov. 24. These programs will be held in NatureSpace, a hands-on room located on the Museum’s natural history floor.

“NatureSpace is equipped with an excellent collection of animal, plant and mineral specimens from the Palmetto State,” said Director of Education and Programs Meika Samuel. “The new programs will enable our guests to drop in and meet our science educators on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.”

Museum science educators will present “The Diverse World of South Carolina’s Animals,” a program geared to children 5 to 10 years old.  Guests will learn to identify the different classes of animals from the four different regions of South Carolina.

Weekend programming is free with general admission or museum membership.  For more information on the new programs, call (803) 898-4989 or
(803) 898-4912.
