TELEPHONE CUSTOMERS IN INMAN, CAMPOBELLO, AND LANDRUM
WILL NO LONGER PAY LONG DISTANCE RATES TO CALL EACH OTHER
The Public Service Commission of South Carolina has approved Extended Area Service (EAS) for telephone customers in the towns of Inman, Campobello and Landrum. Telephone customers in these calling areas will soon be able to place calls to one another without paying long distance charges.
Windstream South Carolina, Inc. will provide the extended area service for these three towns beginning July 29, 2008. Once EAS is implemented, customers will be able to use 7-digit dialing to call any number in the three exchanges. According to the Company, customers will receive a message prior to the implementation of the extended area service.
Presently, calls between Landrum and Inman, and Campobello and Inman are billed as long distance toll calls. With EAS, instead of paying long distance tolls, residential customers will pay an additional monthly charge of thirty-three cents ($.33) for each line of residential service, and commercial customers will pay an additional monthly charge of sixty-six cents ($.66) for each line of commercial service.
The Commission approved the plan after it held a public hearing on the evening of May 5, 2008, in Campobello, and heard public support for the EAS service.
