Public swimming pool workshop set for Bluffton

COLUMBIA – A workshop for public swimming pool owners and operators will be held April 23 in Bluffton, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

“There have been a number of changes in the certification program, regulation updates and other information owners and operators of public swimming pools need to know,” said David Payne, manager of DHEC’s Region 8 recreational waters program which serves Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties.

Payne said the meeting to be held at the Bluffton Library, located at 120 Palmetto Way, begins at 9:00 a.m. The agenda will include:

  • Palintest PoolTest 3 calibration and use in accordance with DHEC’s operating procedures,
  • Inspections,
  • Licensed Pool Operator (LPO) Certification and courses,
  • Regulations update,
  • Waterborne illnesses,
  • Ultraviolet disinfection.

 

Payne said public swimming pools include those at hotels and motels, apartment complexes, condominiums and community pools in subdivisions.
