COLUMBIA - The conditionally approved shellfish harvesting areas in Murrells Inlet in Georgetown County have been reopened, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.

"These conditionally approved areas have been reopened because water quality sampling indicates bacteria levels are safe for shellfish harvesting," said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC's Shellfish Sanitation program.
