Shoreline Change Advisory Committee Meeting
CHARLESTON – The Shoreline Change Advisory Committee will meet Jan. 25, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at the Green Quad Learning Center for Sustainable Futures on the University of South Carolina campus, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

Shoreline Change Advisory Committee Meeting

CHARLESTON – The Shoreline Change Advisory Committee will meet Jan. 25, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at the Green Quad Learning Center for Sustainable Futures on the University of South Carolina campus, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

The committee will receive presentations on topics including shoreline inventories, biological and physical changes along estuarine shorelines. Committee members will also discuss the development of research priorities and information needs.

The committee will set aside a one-hour public comment period for anyone to express concerns and ideas. Written comments may be submitted to Braxton Davis at DHEC’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management via email to davisbc@dhec.sc.gov.

The Shoreline Change Advisory Committee is organized by DHEC and has a broad cross-section of coastal stakeholders including scientists, coastal managers, municipal officials, developers, conservationists and legal professionals. The committee’s purpose is to organize existing shoreline research, identify research priority needs and consider policy-related issues on the future management of the state’s estuarine and beachfront shorelines.
