Columbia, SC - Rogue Pictures has chosen Florence as production location for its suspense film Strangers. Production on the film, starring Liv Tyler and directed by Bryan Bertino, will begin in October for a fall 2007 release date.
“South Carolina has a winning recruitment package composed of the SC Film Commission, the Florence County Economic Development team, and an aggressive state incentive package,” said line producer Tom Busch. “These elements, combined with a can-do attitude on all fronts, have enabled us to make the film that our director envisions right here in Florence County.”
The thriller, written by director Bertino, tells the story of a suburban couple whose home is invaded by three dangerous masked strangers. Florence County will be home to the production for approximately three months.
“The fact that South Carolina continues to be a top location choice for the film industry shows that our work this year in pushing for added incentives is paying dividends,” said Governor Mark Sanford. “As more productions continue to be filmed here, our state will keep benefiting from the multiplier effect this industry has on local economies in both the near term and the long term."
“Governor Sanford's long-time commitment to bringing the film industry to our state continues to boost our local economies,” said Secretary Joe Taylor. “We are grateful to Rogue Pictures for their decision to bring this production to Florence County and for the favorable economic impact this creates for the local economy.”
