The South Carolina Department of Commerce joined Performance Food Group Company (NASDAQ/NGS: PFGC) in announcing that the company will open a new shared services center in Springdale, South Carolina at 3245 Platt Springs Road. In connection with the center’s opening, Performance Food Group (PFG) will be centralizing select financial support functions, including accounts payable, general accounting, and vendor receivables. The facility is slated to be open in the first half of 2008 and will bring approximately 100 jobs to the area when fully functional.
“We evaluated several potential locations before selecting the Columbia area. This site best met our business needs, including workforce availability and the ability to support our future growth,” noted Keith Middleton, senior vice president and controller for Performance Food Group. “In particular, the readySC program will significantly enhance our workforce readiness and training needs. We look forward to being a part of the Columbia area community.”
The state’s worker training program, readySC™, has been nationally recognized for its ability to offer customized training for businesses and ranked 4th in the nation by Expansion Management magazine.
