3V To Expand Georgetown Facility
Company plans to invest $15 million, create 20 jobs

Georgetown, SC  -  The Georgetown County Economic Development office announced today that 3V Inc. plans to invest $15 million in its manufacturing operation located off of Pennyroyal Road in Georgetown. This capital investment in new building and equipment is expected to occur over the next five years. 3V Inc. anticipates that this project could result in approximately 20 additional job opportunities for area residents.

“Our industry becomes more and more competitive every year. To compete successfully on a global basis support from our community, including the Georgetown County Economic Development office and the South Carolina Department of Commerce, is absolutely crucial,” said John Centioni, an Executive Vice-President with 3V Inc. “We greatly appreciate the county’s effort to create economic conditions that benefit the community and its business partners. This potential investment will modernize our facility with upgraded equipment.”

“Today’s expansion announcement by 3V Inc. is another positive example of how our efforts to improve the state’s soil conditions for business are paying dividends,” said Gov. Mark Sanford. “With more than 140,000 people working in South Carolina than there were four years ago, we remain committed to continuing to improve our business environment with changes like workers comp reform to create even more jobs and opportunity for our citizens.”

“3V Inc.’s investment is significant news for the Georgetown community, and we are pleased that this long-time South Carolina company is once again making a major commitment to expand this facility and add new technology that will allow for future growth,” said Secretary of Commerce Joe Taylor. “Working with the Georgetown economic development allies and the private sector, Commerce continues to foster a competitive business environment that enables our existing companies to grow.”

“We are pleased 3V Inc. will be investing capital resources and creating new engineering and skilled technician positions in Georgetown County. They have discovered that a qualified workforce exists in our region that enables them to be successful here,” Georgetown County Council Chairman Sel Hemingway said. “Helping existing industries prosper and create jobs for our residents is important to Georgetown County.”

“3V Inc.’s expansion demonstrates their commitment to research and development in their field of specialty chemicals,” said Thomas Edwards, Georgetown County Administrator, “Since coming to Georgetown County they have utilized their research center at their Georgetown facility to develop state of the art products serving the paper, detergent, textile, cosmetic, water treatment, and plastics industries.”

Georgetown County Economic Development Commission Chairman Jim Jerow said, “3V’s decision to expand here in Georgetown County speaks volumes for our manufacturing environment. Their research and development center for specialty chemicals has enabled them to stay ahead of the competition. We support their efforts to grow here and create exciting opportunities for our residents.”

Headquartered in Georgetown, 3V Inc. is a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals and has operated in the community for almost 30 years. Today the company provides more than 200 jobs to area residents. The company has been able to grow and expand its operations over the years by focusing on quality and maintaining a diversified product line. 3V now serves markets ranging from paper, detergents, textiles, cosmetics, and water treatment, to plastics. The company’s research and development efforts should allow it to serve additional markets in the coming years. 3V also maintains sales and marketing offices in North Carolina and New Jersey.
