Press Release:

They have seen war on the gridiron and baseball diamond – now they can be yours, rips and all.

Approximately 300 Clemson University game worn football and baseball pants are now for sale online by the Budget and Control Board’s Surplus Property Program. The items are being sold as a lot via an eBay auction that will close April 2. The state surplus program is increasing use of online auctions to dispose of used government property.

The winning bidder will receive approximately 235 pairs of football pants and approximately 65 pairs of baseball pants in a variety of sizes. Some of these pants might be torn or need repairs but most look to be in fair condition.

To view the auction and bid, go to www.scsurplusproperty.com and click on the “eBay Items” in the left column. Bidding for the lot starts at $49.99. The winner must pick up the items at the Surplus Property Warehouse on Boston Ave. in West Columbia.

“These uniforms are in good, game used condition,” said Surplus Property Program manager Tom Hornsby. ”We have sizes that will fit everyone from kickers to linemen.”

The S.C. Surplus Property Program is increasing the use of online auction sites like eBay and govdeals.com to reach more customers and increase revenue to the state. Under law, all state agencies must turn in used items to S.C. Surplus Property for sale. All proceeds, minus an administrative fee, are returned to the agency that submitted the property.

The eBay sales have been a tremendous success. Surplus Property has a 100 percent positive feedback score on more than 1,200 transactions since launching its eBay store in 2003.
