Press Release:

Rich Roberson has been named The Budget and Control Board’s Director of General Services. Roberson was selected by Board Executive Director Frank Fusco to take the place of George Dorn, who retired June 30.

Roberson, 60, had been an attorney with the Board specializing in property issues. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Clemson University and a law degree from the University of South Carolina. He worked previously with the Attorney General’s Office, South Carolina Electric and Gas and in private law practice with Gignilliat, Savitz & Bettis.

General Services manages the state real estate, fleet, mail parking and surplus property functions and maintains more than 80 public buildings.

“General Services faces exciting challenges in the near future in maintaining and improving state buildings and in implementing new ways of achieving its mission, such as the Statewide Real Property Management System and fleet centralization initiatives,” Roberson said. “I look forward to working with all our employees to continue our tradition of excellent service to our customers and clients.”
