Free Student Lecture Series Set to Begin at Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum

The S.C. Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum kicks off its Homeschool Friday program this Friday at 10:00 am.  This free, interactive series of military history lectures and special activities is open to students of all ages and their parents.

Students experience living history presentations, participate in military-related activities, and have opportunities to view special artifacts.  The sessions last about and hour conclude in May with a student award ceremony.  Visit the museum’s website at www.crr.sc.gov for a complete schedule and lesson descriptions.

March 9--World War One: Yanks to the Rescue
April 13--World War II: War with Wings
May 11--Program Conclusion and Awards

The South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Museum is the oldest museum in the Columbia area and is a division of the South Carolina Budget and Control Board. Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the museum focuses on South Carolina military history from the Revolutionary War to the present.  The museum is located at 301 Gervais Street, Columbia, in the Columbia Mills Building which also houses the State Museum.
