The Budget and Control Board’s popular online site for finding state jobs is getting even bigger.
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health will begin using the www.jobs.sc.gov site to list the nearly 400 vacant positions it is currently seeking to fill. These include psychiatrists, psychologists, registered nurses, nurse managers, human service specialists, nutritionists, food service specialists, and various management and administrative positions. The inclusion of DMH will more than double the number of jobs available each day on the site.
Launched last fall by the Board’s Office of Human Resources, www.jobs.sc.gov allows state job seekers to apply for positions electronically and to keep their resume on file should they want to apply for multiple jobs. Nearly 1,000 applications are received daily.
Eleanor Odom, Human Resources Director for the Department of Mental Health, says that the new system will bring about much needed changes in recruiting for critical positions in the agency.
“We are looking forward to having a much larger applicant pool and feel the online exposure will give us the opportunity to fill many of our critical positions,” she said. “In hiring for these critical vacancies, we can continue to fulfill our mission in supporting the recovery of people with mental illnesses in South Carolina.”
The Department of Mental Health provides a unified system of care to those individuals with mental illnesses, transitioning clients from inpatient to community-based care, depending on the clients’ needs. The centers provide a broad spectrum of community services for adults and children. The Department currently has 5,000 employees and operates 17 community mental health centers and seven hospital programs.
With the Department of Mental Health now posting its vacancies on the website, the state has nearly 700 vacancies available. All interested applicants for Department of Mental Health positions or other statewide positions may apply online at www.jobs.sc.gov.
