Budget and Control Board Cuts IT Rates for Second Time in Six Months
For the second time in just over six month, the Budget and Control Board’s Division of the State Chief Information Officer has reduced rates state agencies pay for network, voice and e-mail services.
The rate reductions, effective April 1, 2008, represent significant savings in some of the CIO's most widely used service areas and are a direct result of continuous service improvement initiatives and economies of scale due to enterprise implementation.
The reductions will save state, county and city governments in South Carolina an estimated $1.8 million annually. An earlier fee reduction enacted in August, 2007 also cut rates by $1.8 million per year.
“The Board is committed to finding every way possible to help state agencies manage the lean budgets we are facing because of the national economic slowdown,” said Budget and Control Board Executive Director Frank Fusco. “We will continue to make our operations more efficient and pass along the savings to our customers.”
