A 3.5 percent cost of living increase for state retirees was approved Tuesday by the Budget and Control Board. The increase will take effect July 1, 2006. The increase covers more than 105,000 retirees and beneficiaries of the South Carolina Retirement System and the Police Officers Retirement System.
